I’m delighted to say that the last two, or three, months have been pretty good with Yorkshire Linen. We’ve added a couple of new things recently, all of which are looking – and working – very well. We’ve completed promo campaigns for ‘Oktoberfest’, ‘Autumn’, ‘Black Friday’ and ‘Christmas’, plus
New Offers and Discounts
We use WooCommerce for the online shop and bought a new plugin, “Woo Discount Rules” to be able to offer multiple, more complicated offers and deals. The Black Friday campaign was fairly simple, in itself, a simple 15% on the final cart price, but we also implemented a new popup window on the website, suggesting people leave their contact details to receive ‘exclusive’ discount coupons.
This has worked REALLY well with many hundreds of potential customers signing up in just a couple of months! However, we needed to be able to offer the blanket 15%, plus further discounts for use of coupons, AND discount certain products with only certain categories (Christmas Gift items), combining all three promotions.
It was a tricky setup, but we got it working very well! the email ‘sign-ups’ are still working especially well. I absolutely recommend this to anyone running an online shop.
Black Friday Campaign. It’s Black!
Once we’d set the general ‘theme’ for the Black Friday Event promotion, I set up a MailChimp campaign, a Google Ads campaign and edited the website to reflect the promo, including lots of content changes.
The actual images varied, but kept the black and pink theme. The event ran for the whole of November ’23 and was successful! The bulk email did well, with a good 35%+ open rate and hundreds of visitors. I’ve been using the ‘Brand awareness’ ads on Google, which certainly do bring good clicks, but not necessarily better sales. I maintain the brand awareness ads are a good idea. Getting that brand to their potential market is important.
Autumn
The Autumn campaign was visually nice, but didn’t much of a look-in, squashed between the end of summer sales, Black Friday and the inevitably early Christmas promotions. We ran one week of local newspaper advertising, a mailout and some small changes to the website.
We went with this… “Warm, earthy tones feature heavily in the new Autumn winter ranges of bedding, throws & bedspreads, curtains, cushions and even rugs! Autumn inspirations & ideas at Yorkshire Linen Beds & More! As the nights grow a little colder, it’s time to think about a new, thicker duvet, or bedspreads!”
It’s Christmas! Let’s Shout it from the Rooftops!
The Christmas campaign for beds, mattresses and bed linen started December first with a full-on set of new images, videos and content. We started with press ads for two newspapers on the Costa del Sol, followed up with a Google Ads campaign, mailout and Facebook posts. This excellent client agreed to a higher budget for her Google Ads campaign, which I was happy about. We’re seeing some very nice numbers for a blanket camping covering the south coast of Spain.
I notice Google Ads is now asking for more ‘portrait’ images and ‘shorts’-style portrait videos for the campaigns. It’s a bit of a pain in the neck having the video workload doubled, but they are worth the extra effort. The ads are targeted to the entire Málaga province and the southern coast of Spain.
Here’s the portrait video. It won’t be winning any Oscars, but it’s a decent, eye-catching clip. Made specifically for the Google campaign, but also uploaded to Youtube as a ‘short’ and used on Facebook.
Anyway, sales are good on the website, so I’m happy. A good client, all round. We’ll be starting the January sales fairly soon, I look forward to that!
